香港小姐是代表香港進步的形象，具有無比的青春活力，美貌與智慧兼備，在海外負起親善大使使命，宣揚香港，促進香港與各地人民的友誼。同時，在本港社會展開各項公益服務，把愛心溫情遍傳到每一角落。
一九八二年度香港小姐競選，是TVB主辦香港小姐競選第十屆，可稱為盛事中的盛事，當會是一個萬眾矚目的盛會。
本年度港姐冠軍將代表香港參加在南美秘魯舉行的環球小姐競選大會，亞軍參加在倫敦舉行的世界小姐競選大會，季軍參加在東京舉行的國際小姐競選。

A Miss Hong Kong title-holder represents the progressive and advanced nature of Hong Kong and possesses the essential qualities of vigour and vitality, beauty and intelligence. When overseas she acts as a goodwill ambassadress promoting the image of Hong Kong. When she's at home she will play an integral role in community and charity oriented activities which will bring happiness to many people in society.
The Miss Hong Kong Pageant organized by HK-TVB enters its 10th year in 1982. It will be a pageant to surpass all others and will make a significant impression on the people of Hong Kong.
Miss Hong Kong 1982 title-holder will represent Hong Kong in the Miss Universe Pageant to be held in Peru. The representative at the Miss World Contest in London will be the first runner-up, while the second runner-up will jet off to Tokyo for participation in the Miss International Beauty Pageant.
