九十年首屆香港小姐即將誕生，過往香港小姐在不同的國際選美盛會中，成績卓越，為港人增添一份光彩，且為每位市民所認同，證明香港小姐是本港最具代表性和最矚目的選美盛會。
踏進九十年代，香港將面對更多的挑戰，而九十年代的香港少女，幹勁十足，勇於接受挑戰，積極參與，與社會步伐齊邁進，且積極在海外及本地推廣宣揚香港的繁榮。因此，一九九○年度香港小姐競選大會主題，亦定名為「九○新女性，共創香港新里程」。
本年度香港小姐競選大會更破天荒把港姐決賽當日，定名為「香港小姐日」，邀約全港市民齊齊參與投票，選出大家心目中一位代表香港的香港小姐

The first Miss Hong Kong of the 90s will soon be crowned.
Past titleholders have helped tremendously to boost Hong Kong's image worldwide. Their achievements during their annual reign and their social contributions have also established the Pageant as the most representative and the premier beauty contest in Hong Kong.
In the 90's, Hong Kong will face a variety of Challenges. As Cosmopolitan women, our local ladies are energetic and idealistic, they pursue their career positively and care about the community. They lend their charisma to promoting the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong. For this reason, the main theme chosen for the Miss Hong Kong 1990 Pageant is 'Woman of the 90s with a Vision of Hong Kong'.
The day of the final, August 18, has been designated as 'Miss Hong Kong 1990 Pageant Polling Day' by the Project Committee.
Before the judging panel makes its choice at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, members of the community have an opportunity to vote for one of the 12 Miss Hong Kong entrants they believe should hold the top position…
