歷屆香港小姐均負起親善大使的使命，代表香港前赴世界各地，推廣和宣傳香港的旅遊及工商貿易，積極在海外市場宣傳香港的形象及拓展工商業，並實踐香港小姐服務社會的使命。
一九九四年度香港小姐競選，大會以「追尋鳳凰傳說，寫出妳的新故事」為主題，今年更獻新猷，凡入選準決賽佳麗均可即時接受演藝訓練，參與特為佳麗們而攝製的劇集「港姐鬥戲片場」演出，務求能使佳麗發揮其演藝潛能，與及增加觀眾對佳麗的認識...

The Miss Hong Kong titleholders of years past have taken on themselves the mission of a goodwill ambassador who represented the territory in foreign lands. They made it their aim to promote and publicize Hong Kong's tourism as well as industrial and commercial trade as a thriving city.
This year, the Miss Hong Kong 1994 Pageant Committee has given the pageant the theme - "Purse your dream, write a new chapter in your life". They have also injected into the pageant an innovative idea - that of giving the semi-final contestants an opportunity to hone their acting skill in the "Pageant's Talent Challenge". By doing so the contestants not only could show their acting potential, but also let the audiences know more about them…
