香港小姐競選 - 一個標誌代表香港親善大使任務的選美活動，「一九九六年度香港小姐競選」的口號為 "燦爛星光大道，港姐引領起步"， 意謂歷屆港姐於各行各業皆有光芒發展，並為社會造就不少出之材，今屆冠軍佳麗更於當選後，即時隨TVB攝製隊進軍美國荷里活，擔任大型特備節目主持，踏上燦爛星光大道的第一步。
